Former Omaha priest gets more jail time
By The Associated Press
OMAHA — A former Omaha priest already serving jail time for indecent exposure has been sentenced to more jail time for violating his probation with that 2005 incident.
Daniel Herek was sentenced in 2006 to four months in jail for exposing himself in an Omaha parking lot in September 2005. Earlier this year, he began serving the sentence after the Nebraska Supreme Court wouldn’t hear his appeal.
On Friday, a Douglas County judge sentenced the 63-year-old Herek to an additional four months. The judge says Herek’s indecent exposure was a violation of his probation, which he was serving after a 1999 conviction for molesting a 14-year-old altar boy.
The defrocked priest served 2½ years of a five-year sentence for sexually assaulting the boy.
