OMAHA — A former middle school teacher from Omaha accused of having sex with a student years ago has turned herself in to police.

Stephanie Draper had been charged in a warrant with first-degree sexual assault of a child.

Omaha police say a 21-year-old man told officers that he and the 35-year-old Draper had a sexual relationship more than six years ago when was an eighth-grader at Millard Middle School.

The man also told police he contacted Draper earlier this year and demanded $5,000 to keep quiet about the relationship.

Millard Public Schools say Draper resigned last year after being questioned about her relationship with the former student.

Draper posted $10,000 and is out on bond.
