Security at Omaha teen’s trial to be tight

OMAHA — Douglas County officials say security will be tight for the upcoming trial of a teenager charged with killing a 6-year-old girl.
The first-degree murder trial of 14-year-old Jordan Goodwin is set to begin Monday. He and another man are accused in the Oct. 5 shooting death of 6-year-old Alazia Alford.
Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning said extra security measures will be taken at the trial. That includes controlled entry into the courtroom once the trial has begun. Identification and warrant checks also will be conducted on all who enter the courtroom. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Alford was one of three people shot in the incident. The other two have since recovered.
