Gage Co. officials: Rumors about missing woman not true
By the Lincoln Journal Star
Rumors in Gage County that Ann Marie Kelley, a rural Filley woman missing since April 15, has been found are false, Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour told a newspaper Tuesday evening.
“There is nothing to report, and these rumors have no basis in fact,” Ritnour said in a telephone interview with the Beatrice Daily Sun.
Ritnour told the newspaper that his office was called Tuesday morning by a radio station that had been contacted by someone saying Kelley may had been found.
A number of people also called the Gage County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday asking if Kelley had been found, the Daily Sun reported. But Sheriff Millard Gustafson said there was no truth to the reports.
“I wish we had found her,” Gustafson told the newspaper.
Ritnour said Gustafson asked him about 6 p.m. Tuesday if the county should issue a press release saying Kelley remains missing and the search for her and her 1991 Plymouth Voyager minivan continues.
Kelley was last seen about 8:25 a.m. on April 15 in Beatrice. A few minutes after that last sighting, she bought a few groceries at a local Sun-Mart.
No one has heard from her since.
Ground and air searches have yielded no sign of the woman. She left her cell phone at her home and a note to her children was found with it.
One of the stories heard Tuesday was that Kelley and her van were found in the Holmesville quarry, the Daily Sun reported. Ritnour said he had heard nothing along those lines.
